Helping Others Through Donation

You may have reached the end of your relationship with your over-sized couch or your heavy bedroom furniture. Or perhaps you went on an amazingly successful diet and managed to keep the weight off this time and have a closet full of clothes that are way too big. Whatever your motivational factors are, you are cleaning out your house, a junk-removal project that has resulted in many items that aren’t exactly junk. There are many options available other than throwing it all away. Altitude Hauling can help to eliminate the work for you via donation, while reducing landfill waste, helping others in need, and providing you with a tax write-off at the end of the year.

What Can I Donate?

With your focus on helping those in need through your donation pick-up, take a closer look at what you can do without and what could benefit someone else. It might not just be old clothing that doesn’t fit you anymore. Consider some more practical items from the list below:

  • The Salvation Army frequently asks for newly packaged toilet paper, diapers and hygiene products.
  • Socks, underwear, and blankets
  • School Supplies
  • Gently Used Bikes

Some other items that you are probably hoping to get rid of during your junk removal process, and that donation centers will typically accept might include:

  • Couches, chairs and other living room furniture
  • Kitchen sets, and bedroom sets and small appliances
  • Clothing in good condition
  • New items

Items that donation centers typically do not take:

  • Baby toys with raised lettering
  • TV’s older than five years
  • Built-in appliances
  • Small appliances older than ten years
  • Mattresses and box springs
  • Furniture with rips, broken pieces, odors, or pet hair.

Altitude Hauling will be happy to take your donation to the charity of your choice. However, different charities accept different items; calling the donation stations or searching online to determine which charity best suits your needs ahead of time is recommended.  If you don’t have a preference, then Altitude Hauling can donate your items for you.

Denver Rescue Mission accepts donation drop-off at several locations including The Ministry Outreach Center, and The Crossing of furniture, clothing, and household items among other smaller items. However, they have a list of items that they cannot accept as well, including king mattresses and lawn furniture.
